João Bento-Torres is a Physical Education teacher and received his PhD in Neuroscience and Cell Biology in 2014 at Federal University of Pará - UFPA/Brazil. He is a full professor at the Biological Science Institute of UFPA/Brazil.
As a member of the Laboratory of Investigations in Neurodegeneration and Infection his background is on exercise and physical activity on acute and chronic neurodegenerative diseases and aging, mostly in animal model research. He received a postdoctoral fellowship from CAPES-Brazil and joined to the BACH Lab in 2017 to study the relations between fitness and physical activity on brain and cognition in women with breast cancer (EPICC project). During his free time he likes sports and pop culture, particularly play rugby and watch movies with family.
